Lebanese Foreign Minister: We Failed to Resolve the Crisis with Saudi Arabia

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib announced that the government's crisis cell has failed to resolve the current tension with Saudi Arabia, noting that the kingdom is displaying a "harshness" that is not understood by the Lebanese side. In an interview with the Lebanese channel "Al-Jadeed" on Sunday evening, Bou Habib stated, "The crisis cell no longer exists as it has come to an end due to its failure, and we are now all in contact with (Prime Minister Najib) Mikati." He explained according to the channel: "The cell failed because the crisis has become larger than the ministries and larger than Lebanon due to both external and internal factors, and it will not convene again." The Foreign Minister added: "There is a Saudi harshness that we do not understand; problems between any two countries should be resolved through dialogue, and we have not conducted a dialogue." Bou Habib affirmed: "We will not accept that any crisis be resolved at the expense of Saudi Arabia or at the expense of Lebanon, and the Arab League should take action and call for dialogue."
