Britain has imposed a new package of sanctions targeting 12 individuals close to Putin, accusing them of funding his "lavish" lifestyle. Among those targeted by these sanctions are his ex-wife Lyudmila Ocheritnaya and former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, whom the British government noted in a statement has "allegations of a close personal relationship with Putin." The sanctions also include Igor Putin and Roman Putin, who are cousins of the Russian leader, as well as Alexander Plekhov, described as a "close friend" of Putin, who controls the company "Vital Development Corp."
