The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that it responded immediately to an incident where Greek F-16 fighters "harassed" a Turkish research vessel in international waters of the Aegean Sea.
Defense Minister Hulusi Akar stated that "the Greek fighters are conducting ongoing harassments, and the most recent harassment (of the Turkish research vessel) was responded to in accordance with the law," adding, "Our position regarding the harassment of the Greek fighters against the Turkish research vessel is clear, and our actions regarding these harassments are also clear," according to Anadolu Agency. The minister did not specify the nature of the Turkish response.
The Greek fighters caused a disturbance for the Turkish research vessel while it was conducting a scientific and technical hydrographic survey in international waters in the northern Aegean Sea. The Greek fighter jets targeted the vessel, which is scheduled to continue its operations in the area until March 2, near Limnos Island, a Greek island in the northern Aegean.
