"We are a people of repetition, not a people who learn lessons," remarked a political source concerning the recurring crisis of government formation, where confusion reigns and stalemate prevails. The source, speaking to "Akhbar Al-Yawm" agency, stated: "This week is decisive; either a government will be formed or it will be postponed until 'after the new term,'" referring to the American-French pressures exerted on the parties involved in the formation, with diplomatic communications taking place at various levels.
He revealed that Paris has requested from Washington a brief opportunity to try to persuade the parties to form a government, noting: "So far, the discussions initiated by French Ambassador Anne Grillo, which have taken place out of the spotlight, have not yielded the desired results." He mentioned: "In any case, Grillo will continue her efforts this week to obtain final responses."
He continued: "There is an attempt to evade government formation," revealing that there was a communication between the French embassy and Hezbollah, which provided reassurances regarding the timely election of the president, but no clear response was given concerning the government.
