French authorities have imposed water use restrictions in 88 out of 96 areas of the continental part of the country due to heatwave and drought, according to BFMTV. The report noted that the regions of "Pays de la Loire" and "Poitou-Charentes" in the west of the country are experiencing water shortages more than other French areas. The water scarcity is attributed to unusually hot and dry weather in recent weeks, as well as a lack of rainfall during the winter, which has hindered the replenishment of water supplies. Residents in the 88 affected French areas have received serious drought warnings and orders to restrict water use, including a ban on watering gardens during the day. The channel highlighted that these measures have become "an extraordinary phenomenon of this magnitude" this season, adding that "hopes for improvement in the situation in the near future are slim."
