Japanese media outlets have revealed details and information about the suspect in the shooting of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. According to media reports, the suspect in the assassination attempt on Shinzo Abe is Tetsuya Yamagami, a 41-year-old former sailor in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force for three years until 2005, who resides in Nara City, where the former prime minister was giving his speech. The police arrested the armed individual, but he did not resist. Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect shot Abe twice from behind with a homemade weapon. Media noted that Abe is currently in a hospital in Nara Prefecture. Emergency services stated that the politician is "in a state of cardiac and respiratory arrest."
