Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Sweden has handed over 4 terrorists out of 73 suspects sought by Turkish security authorities. In a meeting with Turkish journalists following the NATO summit in Madrid, Erdogan stated that "the commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding with Finland and Sweden are important, but the crucial aspect is their implementation. We handle the matter cautiously as a country that has been stabbed in the back multiple times in the fight against terrorism." He noted that after the trilateral memorandum, it would be very difficult for PKK and Gülen terrorists to carry out smear campaigns, target citizens, and initiate attacks. He added: "For the first time, the threats coming from terrorist organizations against our people, lands, and security forces have been included in NATO's new strategic concept."
