A number of Egyptian lawyers have revealed that world bodybuilding champion Rami Al-Sebeai, known as "Big Ramy," is threatened with six months in prison for marrying a second wife without notifying his first wife. Lawyer Maha Abu Bakr stated that Egyptian law imposes penalties on a husband who fails to inform his first wife of marrying a second one by providing false information that prevents notification by the official marriage registrar. The law stipulates penalties for the husband in this case, including up to six months in prison and a fine of 200 Egyptian pounds. Additionally, the first wife has the right to request a divorce for harm.
Lawyer Michael Raouf also noted that the law imposes a six-month prison sentence on a husband who provides incorrect information that prevents notifying the first wife, and the first wife can seek a divorce due to harm.
Hours earlier, Big Ramy's manager announced that he had been married for a long time to both his first and second wives, confirming that the photos circulating from his wedding ceremony were old, whereas the first wife revealed that she learned about the marriage from the media.
