Political sources following the situation have revealed to "Anba" that disputes have arisen between the Amal Movement and Hezbollah on one side, and the President of the Strong Lebanon bloc, Gibran Bassil, on the other. This friction is rooted in the duo's support for reassigning President Najib Mikati, who is facing strong opposition from Bassil. Furthermore, according to the sources, Bassil is demanding participation in a political government that includes him and oversees the Ministry of Energy, in anticipation of a presidential vacuum.
In this context, "An-Nahar" reported that the matter of reassigning President Najib Mikati has diminished in favor of considering new names. Information suggests that the current administration prefers to secure an agreement on a specific name between the presidential team and the Shiite duo before Aoun invites for consultations, especially since, so far, Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, along with the Progressive Socialist Party, lean towards re-naming President Mikati, while the "Free Patriotic Movement" does not wish for that.
It has been widely rumored that the meeting between Aoun and Mikati a couple of days ago in Baabda was not positive, and there was no agreement between them regarding the priorities of the stage or how to resolve the living crises. Reports indicate that Mikati does not seem willing to keep the Ministry of Energy with the "Free Patriotic Movement" if reappointed, as the latter views the removal of this portfolio from it as an indictment in this file that it will not accept. It was noted that Aoun wishes to clarify the parliamentary and political directions regarding the designate president before inviting for consultations.
