Biden Visits Polish City Near Ukraine Border Today

The White House has announced that U.S. President Joe Biden will visit the Polish city of Rzeszów today, Friday, located 80 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. This move comes as he seeks to emphasize the West's firm stance against Russia's military operations in Ukraine. The White House also indicated that the United States will provide over one billion dollars to those affected by Putin's war in Ukraine.

The U.S. presidency stated in a statement that Biden will be welcomed in Rzeszów by Polish President Andrzej Duda, and he will review the operations assisting refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. He will also meet with American military personnel deployed in the eastern wing of NATO.

Biden will arrive in the Polish city coming from Brussels, the first stop in an emergency European tour necessitated by the Russian operation in Ukraine. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had previously visited Rzeszów on March 5 during his trip to Poland to demonstrate U.S. support for NATO's eastern flank countries, which were previously within the orbit of the Soviet Union and are now concerned due to the war in Ukraine.

According to the White House, Biden will receive a briefing on how Poland is managing the influx of Ukrainian refugees, who have fled to this country by the millions since Russia's military operation began a month ago. Biden will also meet with soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in Poland.
