Istanbul Authorities Launch Extensive Campaign Against Irregular Migration

The Turkish province of Istanbul announced on Tuesday that security forces apprehended 17,116 individuals last week as part of efforts to combat irregular migration. A statement from the province indicated that 17,116 irregular migrants were caught in various locations throughout Istanbul during the week and were handed over to the immigration department in preparation for their deportation. The statement added that the deportation operations for irregular migrants are ongoing, noting that 377 Afghan migrants were deported last night. It was mentioned that the process for the deportation of 183 irregular migrants has been completed, and they will be returned to their countries from Istanbul Airport on Tuesday evening.
