Emirati artist Ahlam announced her departure from Kuwait and arrival in Abu Dhabi after the Kuwaiti foreign ministry facilitated her travel procedures amid a significant controversy she caused on social media. On her Twitter account, Ahlam shared a video saying: "We arrived in Abu Dhabi, thank God. A heartfelt greeting to you all. First, I would like to thank my country, the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and His Excellency Dr. Matar Al-Neyadi, our ambassador in my second country, Kuwait, for facilitating my departure and exit. My second country is Kuwait. Thank God we arrived in Abu Dhabi. May God not deprive me of you. May God prolong the lives of our leaders, protect them, and keep them as a crown on our heads, and protect everyone. I hope to return soon to my second country, Kuwait. I love you all very much. Thank you."
Previously, Ahlam expressed her deep dissatisfaction over the unequal treatment she received from Kuwaiti authorities, as she was prevented from leaving the country due to being in a quarantine period, while Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi was allowed to exit at the same time. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior had announced earlier that an immediate investigation committee was formed regarding the entry and exit of a Gulf artist without adhering to the imposed quarantine procedures.
