Ramos and Real Madrid: What Will Happen?

Spanish media reported on Monday that Sergio Ramos, the captain of Real Madrid, has one month left on his contract, but the veteran defender has not yet reached an agreement to renew his contract with the club. According to a report by the newspaper "Marca," since joining Real Madrid from Sevilla in 2005, Ramos has become one of the best defenders in Europe over the past decade. However, it seems that neither party is currently yielding to the demands of the other, but there is a possibility that an agreement could be reached next June.

The newspaper clarified that the 35-year-old player has only one month left to determine whether he will continue with Los Blancos or leave next season after finding a new destination this summer. Ramos has won 22 titles during his 16 years at Real Madrid and has been pivotal in many of them, including three consecutive victories in the Champions League.

The captain of the royal team suffered various injuries in 2021, and Luis Enrique, the coach of the Spanish national team, did not call Ramos up for the UEFA Euro 2020, which is set to take place in less than two weeks.

It is worth noting that Real Madrid officially announced last Thursday the departure of French coach Zinedine Zidane from the first team after his second term since March 2019.
