The Syrian Ministry of Energy, led by Deputy Minister for Oil Affairs Ghayath Diab, conducted a meeting with a Saudi delegation to explore cooperation in the oil and gas sectors and to review investment and development opportunities.
The Saudi delegation included Saudi Energy Minister's Advisor and General Supervisor of the International Projects Office Fouad Mousa, Saudi Deputy Minister for Renewable Energy Faisal Al-Duwaish, Petroleum and Gas Sector Advisor Mohammed Wahib Ba Waerth, and Electricity Sector Advisor Abdul Aziz Al-Shahrani.
The Syrian Ministry of Energy stated on Friday that the meeting reviewed the current status of Syria's oil and gas sector and priorities for its development, in addition to discussing available investment opportunities and mechanisms for implementing joint projects.
The discussion also covered future work directions, including developing infrastructure, improving resource efficiency, and enhancing technical cooperation in both conventional and renewable energy fields.
Joint Workshop Agreement
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold a joint workshop during the next week, alongside scheduling a regular high-level meeting starting in September, to strengthen the cooperation pathway between the ministries, according to the Syrian Ministry's statement.
Attending from the Ministry of Energy were Musa Jabbara, Director of Petroleum Sector Regulation, Mohammed Ishaq, Director of Training and Professional Development, and Mustafa Marati, Director of Public Relations in the Oil Sector.
From the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Saudi Embassy representative in Damascus Ghazi Al-Ouni, International Projects Office Expert Ziyad Al-Sobaiyi, Head of the Energy Sector in the Saudi-Syrian Business Council and Deputy Chairman of ACWA Power Raad Al-Saadi.
