Maronite Patriarch Bechara al-Rai, following his meeting with President Joseph Aoun, stated that 'discussions included the outcomes of ongoing negotiations in Rome, alongside key national issues and public affairs.'
Rai highlighted that 'the Vatican stands alongside Lebanon and is eager to support it, urging the Lebanese people to be deserving of this attention and trust.'
He praised the President's positions, considering them 'honorable and patriotic, instilling confidence and reassurance among all Lebanese.'
Rai emphasized that 'the current period requires unifying positions and rallying around the state and its institutions to face challenges and protect Lebanon.'
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri submitted to the President the National Committee on International Humanitarian Law's report, documenting Israel's grave violations of international humanitarian law during the recent war.
He also discussed with him the international initiative to renew the commitment to international humanitarian law and the summit to be held for this purpose in Amman in December, organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross, under the supervision of several Arab and foreign states' leaders.
The President also discussed with Telecommunications Minister Charles Hageh the sector's conditions, plans for its development and modernization, and the specific practical steps to achieve these goals.
During the meeting, President Aoun stressed the 'importance of improving the quality of telecommunications services, expanding coverage across all Lebanese territories, and continually upgrading networks and infrastructure, given the vital role this sector plays in citizens' lives and supporting the economy and growth.'
President Aoun welcomed State Council President Judge Youssef Jamil, who updated him on the council's progress.
