Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made a phone call to the President of the Transitional Military Council of Chad, General Mohamed Idriss Déby. During the call, the Saudi Crown Prince expressed his sincere condolences on the death of the late President Idriss Déby, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The Crown Prince conveyed wishes for peace and stability for the Republic of Chad, and success for the council in fulfilling the aspirations of the Chadian people. Déby's father was killed on April 20 while suffering injuries sustained on the front lines in northern Chad as rebels advanced toward the capital, N'Djamena, according to army reports. The transitional military council, led by his son General Mohamed Idriss Déby, 37, stated that it will govern the country for 18 months before handing power back to civilians.
