The Gathering of Manakish Ovens and Mankousheh Bakeries in the South has called on officials to "restore support for the flour designated for them." The gathering stated in a statement: "After the support for the flour designated for us was lifted, we began purchasing the subsidized flour intended for Arabic bread from traders and mills at the dollar price. The surprise is that there are mills that have been closed for a while and are still selling stored flour that is months old with expired dates or bags that do not carry any brand or mill mark or date, and are sold through known individuals and on social media platforms." The gathering warned "all small bakeries against buying this merchandise as it may have been exposed to moisture and spoilage," requesting the concerned authorities, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy, the Ministry of Health, and security agencies "to take charge of this issue." They concluded: "Restoring support for the flour designated for small bakeries is a means of saving public funds, not the opposite, because subsidized flour has become a profitable business for some well-known bakeries and mills while Arabic bread is missing from the markets. If our demands are not met, we will name things as they are."
