The "El Collao" stadium hosted the match between Athletic Bilbao and its guest Alcoyano in the final matchup of the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey in Spain.
Athletic Bilbao qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey after a hard-fought victory over third-division team Alcoyano, winning 2–1. Alcoyano ended the first half leading with a goal scored by Moroccan Mourad Doudi Alghzawani in the 39th minute of the match. In the second half, Athletic Bilbao managed to turn the game around, scoring two goals by Asier Villalibre and Iñaki Williams in the 53rd and 78th minutes, respectively.
Alcoyano had previously eliminated the giants Real Madrid in the Round of 32 after winning 2–1 following extra time. Earlier in the day, Granada qualified for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey after a crushing 6-0 victory against hosts Navalcarnero.
It is worth noting that eight clubs have qualified for the quarterfinals of the cup: Barcelona, Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, Levante, Granada, Real Betis, Villarreal, and second-division team Almería.
