The Ceremony of Dalia and Jouai's Marriage

In a ceremony attended by a select few guests, the marriage of the couple Dalia Jumblatt and Jouai Al-Daher was held at the Mukhaytara Palace. The head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, delivered an emotional speech during the event, stating, "About a year ago, I believe, they came to me, and I saw a question in their eyes, so I kept them and told them: When you decide, I am ready. Go ahead and don't be afraid. And so it was. On the eve of the elections, Jouai asked me if it would be better to postpone the event until after the election and its circumstances and pressures, and so it was as well. I appreciated this indication greatly."

He noted that "last week, on Saturday, September 10, 2022, the Al-Daher and Jumblatt families gathered, with witnesses Antonio Franjieh and Sarah Snow. A deputy mayor from the suburbs of Limassol, Mr. Stavros, was commissioned to officiate the marriage, and the civil wedding took place in the presence of my friend Hala Franjieh, Ambassador Ramez Damashqieh, and his wife, Ambassador Claude Al-Hajl." He said, "And thus the matter was completed."

He addressed Jouai and Dalia, saying: "You may sometimes hear malicious or hurtful words whispered through social sabotage or the like. Don't pay attention. You are stronger and nobler than to respond, and the future is yours." He added: "I alone bear the burden of the past and its responsibilities, and I have done some reflection... With Patriarch Sfeir we held, under his patronage, the reconciliation here. I am ready for any questioning or self-critique again if necessary. And let anyone among you who is without sin cast the first stone... and every human is fallible, and the best of the fallible are those who repent."

He also addressed "the elders of the Al-Daher family and your esteemed companions, my dear family, my beloved wife Nora, the bride's mother Gigi, Timur, Diana, Sabine, Fouad, Aslan, my aunt Nazima Arslan, dear friends and relatives from the Jumblatt family, the Arslan family, the Shouaf family, the Sharabati family, and the Yeroulanos and Kilanis, to Mrs. Aida Sarkis who welcomed me into her home with her husband Youssef during the 1958 revolution before I returned to Mukhaytara, and how beautiful were the memories between Hazmieh and Al-Arsal in Batma, to childhood friends in Mukhaytara: Salman and Wahib, George and Samir, to General Al-Aram, esteemed deputies, my party comrades without exception, friends and all attendees, to Abu Rashid, to all the affiliates and workers in Mukhaytara and Beirut, to beloved Dalia from nursery at "Collège" with Madam Khoury and private lessons with Dalal Nassef to the neighborhood of the great lady, and how many great ladies known to Mukhaytara, especially along with her partner Jouai Pierre Al-Daher." He wished that "this occasion would unite love and goodness, and congratulations to us all."
