Manchester City secured their 18th consecutive win across all competitions with a precious victory over Arsenal last night, taking a ten-point lead at the top of the table over their nearest rivals.
The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, expressed his amazement at his team's remarkable performance amidst the struggles of other teams in the Premier League, but he is confident that the winning streak will come to an end someday.
After the win at the Emirates Stadium, Guardiola said: "The number will stop one day, and we will lose games." He added: "I am amazed and happy that while everybody in the world is struggling, and all teams are dropping points, we have been playing consistently at a high level over the last two months. People are talking a lot about records and victories, but to achieve that, you need to win matches like this and rack up a lot of wins."
Regarding Manchester City's all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero, who has not played since January 3 due to a series of injuries and his struggle with COVID-19, Guardiola remarked: "I look forward to involving him. We cannot forget he has been out for a long time due to injury, and he will only regain his rhythm when he gets playing minutes."
Concluding his comments on Aguero, Guardiola stated: "As soon as I can, I will make him play because he deserves it, and I want that. I want to tell him to keep working hard because his time will come." Notably, Manchester City currently leads the Premier League with 59 points.
