The Saudi Embassy in Russia urged visiting and resident citizens to exercise caution and avoid protest areas on Sunday.
The embassy emphasized the need to follow instructions issued by official authorities in the Russian Federation regarding this matter in a statement posted on its official Twitter account. It stated, "In case of emergencies—God forbid—please contact the Saudi citizens affairs hotline available 24/7 at +79175110815."
Protests are taking place in Russia organized by supporters of opposition leader Alexei Navalny, demanding his release. The NGO "OVD-Info" reported that at least 519 people were detained by Russian police on Sunday during another day of protests. The organization, which specializes in monitoring demonstrations, noted that detentions occurred in at least 35 Russian cities, while law enforcement prevented access to downtown areas in several cities to stop protesters from joining unauthorized demonstrations.
