The British Foreign Office announced in a statement the appointment of Hamish Kowl as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Lebanese Republic, succeeding Dr. Ian Collard OBE, who will be moving to another position in the diplomatic service. The statement continued: "Mr. Kowl will commence his diplomatic duties in July 2022." It added: "Ambassador Kowl is married and has three sons. He previously served as the British Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman from 2017 to 2021 and to the Republic of Tunisia from 2013 to 2017."
