Lebanon Under Test Regionally and Arabically... Eyes on the Presidency!

Readings in Beirut converge on the notion that Lebanon has undoubtedly returned to the "radar of priorities," particularly within the Arab and Gulf spheres. However, informed circles consider that this return and elevation to significant state support, beyond the "humanitarian corridor" of aid, is still dependent on signals that the current Lebanese political reality has yet to produce, particularly concerning the reduction of Hezbollah's influence over decision-making and the entanglement of Lebanon in targeting the security of Gulf countries.

Following sources told "Al-Rai" from Kuwait that "Lebanon, which faced a setback for Iran's allies in the results of its recent parliamentary elections, remains under test regionally, Arabically, and even American-wise. This is highlighted by a notable indication in the Jeddah summit statement, which jumped to the presidential elections without mentioning the formation of a new government, suggesting an impasse that is difficult to resolve. This reinforces the conviction that these countries are treating the presidential election as an indicator and criterion for whether Lebanon will regain its political balance, which will undoubtedly factor into the management of this entitlement, whether from Hezbollah—whose approach is intertwined with the regional landscape and its necessities—or from other local players."
