Egyptian actress Maha Abou-Ouf passed away on Thursday at the age of 65 after a battle with illness. The Actors' Syndicate mourned the late artist in a statement, announcing that "the funeral prayer will be held tomorrow at noon from Al-Rahman Al-Rahim Mosque, Salah Salem." The deceased was the daughter of the late musician Ahmed Shafiq Abou-Ouf (1919-2004) and the sister of the late musician and actor Ezzat Abou-Ouf. Many artists expressed their condolences on social media, including Ehsan Yunis, Ahmed Bedeir, Wafaa Amer, Mahmoud Al-Bazawy, Mustafa Shahban, Nahed Sabahi, Mohamed Adel Emam, and Zina.
Maha was born in November 1956 and graduated from the American University in Cairo, before joining her sisters Mona, Mervat, and Manal in the band "Four M," which was formed by their brother Ezzat Abou-Ouf in the late 1970s. Alongside her singing career, director Hassan Imam introduced her in a minor role in the film "Don't Wrong Women" alongside Hussein Imam, Hanaa Tharwat, Tahia Karioka, and Saeed Saleh.
Following that, she starred in several films including "I Don't Lie, I Just Pretend," "Forbidden for Students," "The Hot Line," "In Summer, Love is Madness," "The Best Times," "Never Mind, We're Being Humiliated," "Amir Al-Bohar," and "Marriage Fraud." In television drama, she appeared in series such as "The Account," "The Other Man," "Khawaga Abdelkader," "The Southern Sorceress," and "Aird Jow," in addition to the famous sitcom "Ra'gel wa Set Setat" with Ashraf Abdel Baki and Leqa’ El Khamisi.
She was briefly married to artist Omar Khorshid before his death in a car accident in 1981. She later remarried and had her only son, Sherif.
