UAE Temporarily Hosts 5,000 Afghans Before Their Relocation to Other Countries

The United Arab Emirates has announced its agreement to host 5,000 Afghan citizens evacuated from Afghanistan, prior to their relocation to other countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that at the request of the United States, the UAE will temporarily host the Afghan citizens before their travel to other nations. The evacuated Afghan citizens will depart to the UAE from the capital Kabul in the coming days aboard American aircraft. This humanitarian initiative coincides with the UAE recently facilitating the departure of dozens of flights carrying hundreds of foreign citizens from Afghanistan, including several diplomats and staff from various nationalities and NGOs to the country's airports. The UAE also facilitated the evacuation of approximately 8,500 foreign nationals from Afghanistan using its aircraft and through its airports. His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, confirmed that this initiative demonstrates the UAE's commitment to enhancing international cooperation, particularly in times of need. He stated, "The UAE consistently seeks peaceful and multilateral solutions and is keen to continue working with international partners to advance efforts to assist the Afghan people during this period."
