Algerian international player Riyad Mahrez broke his scoring drought against Manchester United, netting two wonderful goals to help his team, Manchester City, defeat their neighbors United 4-1 on Sunday in the 28th round of the English Premier League. Manchester City took a significant step in defending their title, raising their points tally to 69 at the top of the table, six points ahead of Liverpool, who have played one match less than the leaders.

Manchester United's points remained at 47, placing them fifth after suffering their first defeat in the last nine matches played in the competition. This marked their second defeat to City in the Premier League this season, as the first match ended with a score of 2-0 at Old Trafford, United's home ground.

Belgian international midfielder Kevin De Bruyne scored two goals and provided an assist, leading City to a valuable win in the Manchester Derby. Mahrez also marked his first goals against Manchester United today, having played his 12th match against the Red Devils.

City ended the first half in their favor with two goals by De Bruyne in the 5th and 28th minutes, compared to a goal by Jadon Sancho for United in the 22nd minute. In the second half, Mahrez added City's third goal in the 68th minute, breaking his scoring drought of 11 games against this team before netting his second goal and the team's fourth in the first minute of stoppage time.

Today's match served as good preparation for Manchester City ahead of their upcoming clash against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
