Jorge de Frutos clinched the second goal for Levante in the fifth minute of injury time. This defeat marks the first loss for the Rojiblancos this season in La Liga, following their earlier defeat to their neighbors Real Madrid in December with a score of 2-0 in the 13th round of the competition. Notably, with this result, Atlético Madrid remains at the top of the La Liga standings with 55 points, still having a postponed match to play, leading by 6 points over second-placed Real Madrid with 49 points, while Levante boosted their tally to 31 points, placing them in eighth position.
