A statement was issued by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division stating the following: As part of the follow-up carried out by the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces to combat theft crimes and identify those responsible and arrest them. On 4-5-2022, a citizen reported in the Barbour area that he had been the victim of a theft of a safe from his home, which contained a sum of money amounting to 70,000 US dollars, and 100,000,000 L.L., along with gold jewelry valued at approximately 3,000 US dollars. Immediately, the Information Branch initiated field procedures at the scene of the theft and identified the perpetrators, namely: S.A. (born in 1999, Lebanese), the mastermind of the theft, and A.Sh. (born in 2004, Syrian).
As a result of technical follow-up, it was revealed, with documented evidence, that the second individual executed the theft inside the house, while the first waited for him nearby in a black SUV. The second placed the safe in the first's car, and they left the location. Accordingly, orders were given to locate and arrest both individuals as quickly as possible. On 5-5-2022, after careful surveillance, one of the branch's patrols managed to arrest the first individual in Beirut and seized the SUV used in the theft. A search of his home in the Shiah area revealed an amount of 5,288 US dollars and 34,000,000 L.L. Legal action was taken against him, and he, along with the seized items, was referred to the relevant authority based on judicial orders. Efforts continue to arrest the second individual involved.
