Former U.S. President Donald Trump requested donations through an email sent from an organization connected to him to help fund "Trump Force One." The fundraising message stated that Trump has a "very important update on his plane," reminding donors that he used to travel on his personal plane, referred to as "Trump Force One," before becoming "the greatest president of all time," according to the message.
Last week, a private plane carrying Trump had to make an emergency landing after experiencing an engine failure following his appearance at a donor meeting hosted by the Republican National Committee in New Orleans, Louisiana. Trump criticized news reports that claimed his private plane was grounded in New York and in poor condition, calling it "fake news."
Trump's plane, a Boeing 757, was a symbol of his campaign during the race for the White House in 2016 but disappeared from public view after he reached the White House. Recent reports indicated that the plane is inoperable and neglected in New York, as reported by the American news site "The Hill."
Trump stated, "The story says that my plane is out of service at Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York, but it is not operational because I didn’t believe I would need it until 2025," referring to the year after the elections he thought he would reach by winning a second term.
The former president added, "My plane is undergoing a major scheduled maintenance program that will be completed in about 90 days," after which it will return to service. "I wasn't allowed to use it during my presidency."
