Sudanese Al-Merrikh Falls to Congolese Vita Club in African Champions League

Al-Merrikh Stadium in Omdurman hosted the match between Sudanese Al-Merrikh and their guest, Congolese Vita Club, as part of the second round of Group A in the African Champions League.

In this match, Congolese Vita Club overwhelmed Al-Merrikh with a score of 4-1. In the first half, Vita Club turned a 1-0 deficit in the early minutes into a 2-1 lead over their hosts. Al-Merrikh's Al-Samani Saad al-Din opened the scoring in the 8th minute, but Obaid Mayamba Mukokiani equalized for Vita Club in the 28th minute. After that, Vivien Asi scored the go-ahead goal for Vita Club from a penalty against Al-Merrikh, and Amidi Massasi added the third goal in the 68th minute. Obaid Mayamba Mukokiani completed the scoring with his second goal in the 83rd minute of the match.

It is worth mentioning that with this result, Al-Merrikh is at the bottom of Group A standings with no points after two defeats, while Vita Club ranks second in the group with 3 points. Previously, Al-Merrikh lost to Al-Ahly in Cairo with a score of 3-0, while Vita Club was defeated at home by Tanzanian Simba with a score of 1-0.
