Egypt Eliminates Morocco from the Africa Cup of Nations

The Egyptian national team has advanced to the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations after overturning Morocco, winning 2-1, and is set to face the host nation, Cameroon. The Pharaohs owe this result to their star Mohamed Salah, who scored the first goal for his country in the 53rd minute and assisted the second goal scored by Trezeguet in the 100th minute. The Moroccan team had taken an early lead with a penalty scored by Sofiane Boufal.

The Egyptian team faced difficult circumstances during the match, with defender Ahmed Hegazi getting injured and leaving early. The toughest blow for the Pharaohs came when goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Jabal sustained a hamstring injury and could not continue, leading to third-choice goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi making his international debut.

The match was thrilling and intense across its four halves, as the Moroccan team managed to shake things up early on when Achraf Hakimi earned a penalty after being fouled by defender Ayman Ashraf inside the box, which Sofiane Boufal successfully converted to the right of the goalkeeper.

After the goal, Morocco's attacking efforts faded, and they inexplicably retreated to their midfield, allowing the Pharaohs to organize. It wasn't until the 20th minute that Egypt posed its first threat to Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who saved a shot from Ayman Ashraf, which rebounded without a follow-up.

Egypt had the absolute upper hand in the second half, and with their first real opportunity, Mohamed Salah brought the match back to square one, capitalizing on a rebound from the Moroccan goalkeeper and easily slotting it into the net.

The Pharaohs posed more danger through Trezeguet, whose shot from a pass by Salah went just past the post. The most significant chance of the half, however, fell to Morocco through Nayef Aguerd, who headed a cross from Sofiane Rahimi that was saved by goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Jabal and then rebounded off the crossbar, with the defense clearing it.

Ultimately, Mohamed Salah's experience sealed the deal in the dying moments when he broke down the right side and delivered a perfect pass to Trezeguet, who converted it easily into the net.
