Spanish Real Madrid sits at the top with four gold medals, the same number as its compatriot Barcelona, but the Catalan team has three golds and one silver.

Until last year, Al Ahly's participation in the 2006 tournament in Japan was the best, as the African champion scored five goals and conceded two, winning the bronze medal against Club America, the North American champion. The 2020 edition held in Qatar saw Al Ahly score a single goal in its victory over Al Duhail (1-0), then lose to Bayern Munich in the semi-finals with a 2-0 scoreline, before being defeated by Palmeiras in Brazil on penalties after a goalless draw in the bronze match.
The year 2022 witnessed a historic edition for Al Ahly in the tournament, where the red giant achieved the largest score in its Club World Cup participations against Asian champion Al Hilal. Al Ahly defeated Mexican Monterrey, the North American champion, 1-0 in the quarter-finals, lost to Brazilian Palmeiras in the semi-finals 2-0, before crushing Saudi Al Hilal 4-0 in the bronze medal match, scoring five goals in the tournament and conceding two.
However, South African coach Pitso Mosimane emphasized that his team will return next year to participate in the tournament for the eighth time in its history, aiming to realize the dream of reaching the final match and attempting to win the title.
