# Southern Marib: The Next Target... Major Military Preparations Arrive from the Coalition

After the coalition announced early Thursday that it had begun a large-scale military operation to cripple the capabilities of the Houthi militia in several Yemeni provinces, a correspondent for "Al Arabiya/Al Hadath" reported that significant military preparations have arrived for the Yemeni army to advance towards the Al Jubah district in southern Marib. The information added that substantial military readiness has reached the Yemeni army in Marib with support from the Coalition to Support Legitimacy.

This came after the coalition revealed that its forces are monitoring the terrorist leaders responsible for targeting civilians and that they are not insulated from being dealt with, according to a statement published by the Saudi official news agency (SPA). It further stated that this latest operation is in response to the threat and the principle of military necessity to protect civilians from attacks.

**Destruction of 80% of Militia Equipment**

Recently, the Yemeni army announced the destruction of 80% of the total weapons and equipment of the militias in Marib through artillery and aviation. This occurred after Yemeni forces, with the coalition's support, launched simultaneous military operations over a week ago aimed at regaining all areas in Marib and Al-Bayda, following the complete liberation of Shabwa Governorate.

**Significant Progress**

The army forces, along with the Giants Brigades and popular resistance, have made significant progress in southern Marib and Al-Bayda, while fierce battles against the Houthis continue. These operations came after the militias intensified their attacks on oil- and gas-rich Marib since the beginning of last year (February 2021), despite all international and UN warnings about the dangers posed to the lives of thousands of displaced persons.

Currently, approximately three million people live in the city of Marib, including nearly one million who fled from other regions of Yemen.
