Teachers' Strike: "Give Me My Right... I Give You Your Right"

Employees of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education began a comprehensive strike today, Wednesday, lasting until Friday, January 27, with the ministry's doors and educational areas closed and staff refusing to attend. Signs announcing the strike were hung on the doors of the ministry and public educational institutions, while contract teachers within the official education associations staged a sit-in at Riad Solh Square coinciding with the Cabinet session, demanding fairness. The protesters raised signs reading: "Give me my right... I give you your right," "A decent living is a right for teachers," and "The educational sector is fundamental to the revival of society."
