Turks residing in Germany began voting today, Thursday, in the Turkish parliamentary and presidential elections, which represent the biggest electoral challenge for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his two decades in power. The Turkish community in Germany has shown strong support for Erdoğan and his party. Approximately 1.5 million Turkish voters are eligible to vote early in Germany ahead of the elections scheduled for May 14 in Turkey. The High Election Commission of Turkey clarified that polling stations have been established in Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, and other cities and towns. Turkish voters in Germany will be allowed to cast their votes until May 9. The number of Turks living in Germany is estimated to be around 2.3 million, according to the Turkish community in Germany.
