Russian news agency TASS reported on Sunday that the founder of Georgian Airlines has banned the country's president from using the company's services after she stated she would boycott them due to the resumption of flights to Russia.
The founder of Georgian Airlines, Tamaz Gayashvili, said that President Salome Zourabichvili is currently an "unwelcome person" and will be banned until she "apologizes to the Georgian people."
This month, Russia announced that it would lift a ban that had been in place for four years on direct flights with Georgia and would cancel a decades-old requirement for Georgian citizens traveling to Russia to obtain a visa.
President Zourabichvili urged Georgian authorities to confront the Russian initiative, a call that has gone unheeded.
So far, there has been no reaction from Zourabichvili.
