The Turkish Coast Guard reported in a statement that a cargo ship designated for transporting grain, which was en route from Sudan to Istanbul, ran aground in the Sea of Marmara. The statement added: "The Turkish tugboats KURTARMA-7 and NAZIM TUR were immediately dispatched to the scene." It continued: "The boat KIYEM-3, along with a crew of sailors, was also directed to the location where the 186-meter-long cargo ship CHARLES ran aground off the coast of Ribatchi while sailing from Sudan to Istanbul." It was noted that "the ship is empty and there is no cargo on board, and that Turkish technical teams were able to return it to its normal state, and it is currently safely docked at Kartal harbor under the coordination of the Istanbul ship traffic control center."
