New American Sanctions Target Russia

The United States announced on Friday new sanctions to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Washington targeted Russia's efforts to evade sanctions, future energy revenues, and supply chains for the military industry, with sanctions affecting more than 300 targets. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated in a statement, "Today's actions will tighten the noose on President Vladimir Putin's ability to carry out his brutal invasion and will enhance our global efforts to prevent Russian attempts to evade sanctions."
