Amid escalating tensions between Iran and the U.S., Iranian President Masoud Bezhkian asserted that his country would adhere to the ceasefire agreement should the U.S. meet its commitments.
Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek on Tuesday, Bezhkian stated that Tehran would reciprocate immediately if the United States returned to its commitments under the provisional agreement signed last June, as reported by the "Iranian Students' News Agency."
"Negotiated Solution"
The Iranian President emphasized on Monday that "Tehran is still seeking a negotiated solution to its dispute with the United States," following renewed clashes between the two nations. He conveyed to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the sidelines of the Shanghai summit, that prolonged conflict benefits no one, and that dialogue and cooperation are key to resolving ongoing issues.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to continue his aggressive stance on Iran, labeling the nation as a "failed state."
