Russian media reported that the Wikimedia Foundation, which operates the "Wikipedia" site, has faced new financial penalties in Russia for violating the country's internet laws. According to available information, the Tagansky District Court in Moscow has decided to fine the Wikimedia Foundation 2 million rubles for refusing to remove fake articles related to the special military operation in Ukraine. The court's press service noted that the fine was issued under part two of article 13.41 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation, with a maximum penalty of up to 4 million rubles in such cases. Russian media highlighted that the Wikimedia Foundation has previously faced several fines in Russia for violating Russian internet laws; in April, it was fined 2 million rubles for publishing materials related to gunpowder, and it was fined 3 million rubles for previously publishing fake articles related to the special military operation.
