WhatsApp to Bid Farewell to Dozens of Phones

WhatsApp will cease to operate, starting next Saturday, on 49 types of smartphones from various brands, whether they run on iOS or Android, according to the tech site "GizChina." The social network, owned by Meta, is set to stop rolling out updates as of December 31, which will ultimately lead to the shutdown of WhatsApp service on these smartphones. Among the devices on which the app will stop working are the iPhone 5 and iPhone C, as well as several Samsung models like the Galaxy S2, Core, and S3 Mini, and some Huawei phones such as Ascend D and D1, D2, G740, Mate, and P1. The list also includes certain LG devices like X L and Luscious 2, along with some Lenovo, Sony, and Wiko models. On its official support page, WhatsApp mentioned that the app will support Android devices running on operating system 4.1 or newer, and Apple devices running on iOS 12 or newer. The common factor among these phones is their age, meaning that modern devices will not be affected.
