Minister of National Defense in the caretaker government, Maurice Sleem, issued Decision No. 1818/Wd regarding the suspension of firearm permits across all Lebanese territory. The decision states:
Article One: The suspension of firearm permits across all Lebanese territory will take effect from 22/12/2022 at midnight until further notice.
Article Two: The following are exempt from the provisions of the above article:
A- Military Room permits (green model)
B- Diplomatic firearm permits (light blue model)
C- Official firearm permits (red model)
D- Private firearm permits granted to current and former ministers, members of parliament, party leaders, and religious sect leaders, only when accompanied by the individual.
Article Three: Any violation of the provisions of this decision will subject the offender to the harshest penalties, especially judicial prosecution.
Article Four: This decision will be published in the media, and the army leadership is tasked with enforcing its provisions strictly and referring violators to military court.
