International Energy Agency: Natural Gas Will Play a Long-Term Role

The Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, indicated today that "natural gas is expected to play a long-term role in global energy markets." Birol stated at a gas sector conference: "The challenge lies in balancing the needs for additional supplies in the short term, at a time when the global market is experiencing fluctuations, with the long-term needs represented by achieving climate goals."
