In the patriarchal edifice in Bkerke, Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi received the new Qatari Ambassador to Lebanon, Saud bin Abdul Rahman. The meeting emphasized "the importance and necessity of enhancing cooperation between Qatar and Lebanon," as well as discussing the general situation in Lebanon and the region. The Qatari ambassador stressed "Qatar's constant support for Lebanon and its people," conveying greetings from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Patriarch al-Rahi and to Lebanon as a country and its people. For his part, Patriarch al-Rahi praised "the support that Lebanon, its people, and institutions have received and continue to receive from Qatar, especially during times of crises and difficulties," expressing his great appreciation for "the role that Qatar plays in the region in general and in Lebanon in particular, especially in contributing to bridging perspectives among the parties to find a solution to the presidential vacancy crisis that Lebanon has been suffering from for nearly a year."
