The Russian Railways have unveiled a project for Santa Claus's train (Ded Moroz, meaning Grandfather Frost), which will serve as a mobile headquarters for him and his team on the eve of the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Russia. The project outlines that Santa Claus's train will embark on a magical journey across Russia from the west to the east and back. The journey will last 85 days and will include 130 cities and towns in Russia.
The train commenced its journey in late October from Santa Claus's permanent residence in the city of Veliky Ustyug in northern Russia, heading towards the Tikhookeanskaya Station on the Pacific coast in the far east of Russia. The trip will conclude on January 15, 2023, with the train returning to Veliky Ustyug, where it began.
During the magical journey, the train will stop at 200 stations, where festive events will be held in the presence of local children, who will be greeted by Santa Claus and receive gifts from him. Celebrations at each station will begin 20 minutes before the train's arrival. A special carriage has been arranged for Santa Claus on the train, and tickets have been distributed to anyone wishing to accompany Santa Claus on his long magical journey.
