Jordanian King Abdullah II stated today, Wednesday, that the region will not enjoy stability until the Palestinians have a sovereign state alongside Israel. He said, "The current escalation of violence and aggression in the Palestinian territories is merely evidence that our region will not enjoy security and stability without achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, allowing the Palestinian people to have their independent state with sovereignty along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital." He continued at the opening of a parliamentary session, "There is no security, peace, or stability without a just and comprehensive peace, which the two-state solution is the only way to achieve."
