Moroccan authorities announced today, Sunday, that 24 people lost their lives in the Azilal region in central Morocco following the overturning of a vehicle. A statement from local authorities indicated that the vehicle flipped near the town of Demnate, close to the junction of the Middle and High Atlas mountain ranges. The authorities added that the vehicle was carrying individuals heading to a weekly market in the area. The Moroccan government is striving to reduce the number of traffic accidents in the kingdom by 2026; however, nearly 114,000 accidents were recorded last year, resulting in 3,201 fatalities.
