US Imposes Sanctions on Turkey-Based Entities Supporting Russia

The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on at least four entities based in Turkey, stating that they violate US export controls and assist Russia's war efforts. An official from the US administration told Reuters that the sanctions targeted entities and individuals in the trade and maritime sectors in Turkey, which are "largely" owned by or linked to Russia.

The sanctions, which include an electronics company and an e-commerce company believed to be helping in the transfer of dual-use goods, are part of an international sanctions package announced by the US Treasury Department, involving more than 120 entities.

Washington and its allies have imposed widespread sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, yet business networks connected to Russia through Turkey and other trade hubs, including Hong Kong and the UAE, continue to operate.
