Messi: I Did Not Want to Move to

Argentinian star Lionel Messi revealed that he never wanted to transfer to French club Paris Saint-Germain, following approximately a month and a half after he left the club. The World Cup champion joined Inter Miami in a free transfer, after refusing to sign a new contract with Paris.

Messi stated in a press conference: "My move to Saint-Germain was not in my plans or desire. I have always wanted to stay at Barcelona, and I did not want to leave." He also mentioned that he is not interested in individual awards like the Ballon d'Or awarded by "France Football," just hours after being nominated for the UEFA Best Player award for the 2022-2023 season, even though he has left Europe.

He added: "I have achieved everything in football, and the only thing I was missing was the World Cup with my country, which was my biggest dream," having won the last World Cup title. He continued: "I have said this many times throughout my career: the Ballon d'Or is one of the most beautiful individual awards, but I do not care much about it, because what matters most to me are the team awards."
