Pentagon: Chinese Spy Balloon Did Not Gather Information on the U.S.

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) confirmed on Thursday that a Chinese spy balloon that flew over the United States earlier this year, which was shot down, did not gather any information while it was in the airspace. Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Patrick Ryder stated, "Our assessments have concluded that it did not gather (information) while flying over the United States." The Chinese spy balloon had flown over the United States and Canada for a week before being shot down by the U.S. military off the Atlantic coast at the order of President Joe Biden.
